Q: Can you get around the filter once it is installed?
Bsafe believes protection is important for all family members. Because of this, the filter cannot be disabled or overridden without the administrative username and password.
Q: What is a white-list filter?
A white-list filter allows access only to sites that have been pre-approved and is therefore the strongest method of Internet protection. This is in contrast to a black-list filter, which allows access to any site except those that have been reviewed and found to be harmful.

Q: Is it going to slow down my Internet speed?
Our client-server technology does not cause any noticeable speed decrease. You will still enjoy fast downloads and quick load times while browsing the Internet.

Q: Why doesn’t CharacterLink still provide Internet access or Protection service?
CharacterLink started out in 1997 as a provider of Internet service as well as protection. Then, in 2004, we began working with Bsafe Online to improve our Internet filters, making them faster, stronger, and more flexible. As part of this process, we chose to no longer function as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) in order to focus all of our efforts on providing the highest possible level of Internet protection. Bsafe is also taking over our protection service and offering it as part of their filtering service.

Q: Why do I have to set up a new account with Bsafe?
In order to protect the privacy of our customers we cannot share billing information. By setting up a new account it insures that you are protected and your information is up to date.
Q: Now that I've installed the Bsafe filter, how do I change my account settings?
Bsafe offers two ways to access your Control Center. 1. By clicking on the desktop icon or 2. By clicking on the light bulb icon in the system tray.
Q: How do I change the attributes on my account?
To change your Category Preferences open the Control Center and click on the Categories menu. Select the profile you wish to edit, then check the box beside the Categories you wish to block, and uncheck the ones you wish to allow. Press 'Ok' to apply the settings.
