Your privacy is important to us! To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.
1.0 The Information We Collect: This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the CharacterLink and Bsecure Web sites. On some pages, you may order products, make requests, or register to receive materials. The types of “Personal Information” collected at these pages include:
- Name
- Address
- E-mail address
- Phone number
- Credit/Debit Card Information
On some pages, you may submit other people’s e-mail addresses. For example, if you order the reporting option and want it sent to an accountability partner, you would submit their e-mail address. There are also pages where you have the option to recommend a friend be notified by e-mail about our services.
We also collect “Aggregate Information” that includes information such as how many users log on to the Sites on a daily basis. This information is non-personally identifiable/anonymous information about you, such as pages most frequently accessed or search terms entered by you. Aggregate Information is used in a collective manner, and no single person can be identified by that compiled information (for example, the number of people who logged into the Sites in a particular day). Aggregate Information does not personally identify a specific user.
2.0 The Way We Use Information: We use the Personal Information you provide about yourself when placing an order only to complete that order. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete that order.
We use return e-mail addresses to answer the e-mail we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.
We use aggregate information to better design our Web site and to share with our Partners (those who have an agreement with us to promote our products and services). For example, we may inform a Partner that a specified number of individuals visited our Web site from a link on their site; and, of those, how many signed-up. To commission the sign-ups we make available the total number of signups by date, as well as individual names for the partner’s audit purposes.
Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
3.0 Our Commitment to Data Security: To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place commercially reasonable safeguards including physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to protect and secure the information we collect online.
4.0 Use of Cookies: The Sites may utilize a standard technology called a “cookie” to collect information about how the Site is used. A “cookie” is a small text file placed on your hard drive by our web page server. These cookies do not collect Personal Information, only Aggregate Information. We use cookies to track usage of the Sites and further customize your experience when you are visiting the Sites. By tracking usage, we can best determine what features of the Site best serve the users. Without cookies, the Sites would “forget” items that may be stored, such as purchases or schedule searches, when you go to a different page. The session information used by the Sites is deleted when your browser is closed. We may use cookies to track banner advertisement usage.
5.0 Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy: Protecting the privacy of children is especially important to us. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our Web site from those we actually know are under 18, and no part of our Web site is structured to attract anyone under 18.
6.0 How You May Access or Correct Your Information: Customers may access all your Personal Information which we collect online and maintain by signing-in to the “My Account” section of our secure Web site. We use this procedure to better safeguard your information. From here you may correct factual errors in your online personal information. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections to our secure site data.
7.0 Miscellaneous Terms: No transmission of data over the Internet is guaranteed to be completely secure. It may be possible for third parties not under the control of CharacterLink to intercept or access transmissions or private communications unlawfully. If You choose to visit the Sites, Your visit and any dispute over privacy is subject to this Privacy Policy, including but not limited to limitations of damages and application of the law of the State of Texas. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO NEGLIGENCE, SHALL CHARACTERLINK OR ITS AFFILIATES, CONTRACTORS AND CONSULTANTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES THAT RESULT FROM THE USE OF THE INFORMATION OR MATERIALS ON THE SITES, EVEN IF CHARACTERLINK HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES AND EVEN IF THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES PROVIDED UNDER THIS PRIVACY POLICY FAIL OF THEIR ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.
8.0 How to Contact Us: Should you have other questions or concerns about these privacy policies, please call us at 850-362-4316 or send us an e-mail at .
Effective date: January 1, 2007. This Privacy Policy was last modified on April 12, 2007. This Privacy Policy has been adopted with the recognition that Internet technologies are rapidly evolving, and that underlying business models are still not established. Accordingly, these policies are subject to change at any time and CharacterLink expressly reserves the right to modify the terms of this Privacy Policy at any time and in our reasonable discretion, by posting a change notice to the home page of the Sites. Your continued use of the Sites following our posting of a change notice will constitute binding acceptance of this Privacy Policy and all changes thereto.
