The History of CharacterLink

In response to the increasing number of young people, marriages, and families being destroyed through unguarded Internet access, the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP)Offsite Link launched CharacterLink in 1997.

The goal of CharacterLink has always been to meet the needs of individuals and families by offering the highest possible level of Internet protection. The pursuit of this mission led us to an entirely innovative approach. By implementing a human-reviewed white list, CharacterLink has been able to avoid numerous problems experienced by traditional filtering services.

What Is IBLP?

IBLP is a not-for-profit, nondenominational Christian ministry based in Oak Brook, Illinois, with additional training facilities in more than 15 locations worldwide. More than 2.5 million people have attended IBLP’s Basic SeminarOffsite Link and found lasting Biblical solutions to life’s problems.

CharacterLink is one of more than 60 programs that IBLP has developed to promote good character. Thousands have joined CharacterLink in raising the standard for protected Internet access and have discovered a safer way to enjoy the vast treasures of the Internet.
